The proprietor has been walking and back packing in the Highlands since 1961, also in the English Lake District, Howgills and Yorkshire Dales, and is always on hand to give helpful advice, whether on walks, climbs or somewhere to visit or eat !

 There are 6 Munros within 5 miles of the house, plus a number of lesser peaks.

 There are a huge variety of walks and climbs to suit all abilities and tastes, from a gentle stroll along the shore to testing climbs on Beinn Alligin, Liathach, Beinn Eighe or in Diabaig.

  Further afield are the townships of Gairloch and Lochcarron, both of which offer golf courses, a variety of shops and restaurants.

  •  The township of Applecross is well worth a visit, taking in the Bealach na Ba pass – the road over which rises from sea level to 2053 ft (628 m) with fine views of breathtaking scenery.
